Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) is an audio compression codec primarily authored by Josh Coalson and Ed Whitney. As its name implies, FLAC employs a lossless data compression algorithm: a digital audio recording compressed by FLAC can be decompressed into an identical copy of the original audio data. Audio sources encoded to FLAC are typically reduced to 50–60% of their original size.
Unfortunately, FLAC files are quite large and are incompatible with most personal MP3 players; however, it is possible to convert FLAC files to MP3 format so you can listen to those files on your iPod, iPhone, iPad or other personal digital media player. MP3 files are not as high quality as FLAC files, but most people can’t hear any appreciable difference between the two file formats. Since MP3 is a standard file format, it makes sense to convert audio files to MP3 format. You can convert files quite easily in a few simple steps.
Step 1. Add FLAC files to the Converter
After the launch of the UFUWare Video/Audio Converter (for Mac), import your source songs into the program for converting: directly drag & drop the FLAC files to the app, or on the top menu, click File > Load Media Files…
Step 2. Set MP3 as your output format
At the bottom, you can select MP3 format as the output format by clicking Audio icon. If you’re running batch conversion, you can customize different output formats for each or set the same output file format here.
Note: The FLAC to MP3 Converter also supports you to reduce file size to save space. Click the Settings icon to lower down the bit rate and more to reduce the file size.
Step 3. Start to convert FLAC to MP3
What you need to do here is to click the Convert button and the rest will be finished automatically by the intuitive FLAC Audio Converter.
